As a digital communications leader, journalist and writer, I am invested in reporting and conveying stories about the underserved and underrepresented. How do I do this? That has looked like different things over the years. Currently, I create and strategize social media and email marketing storytelling opportunities for the Center for Reproductive Rights. I’ve reported out of the Rohingya refugee camps In Bangladesh. It has included me taking on the role of editorial manager at the United Nations World Food Programme focusing on digital and social media strategy. Early on, I worked in nonprofit communications at The Asia Foundation. It has included me reporting on Muslim-American issues all over the United States.
I’ve also done corporate storytelling along the way. I worked as a Writer and Editor at a utility company, fashion e-commerce sites, banking and more.
Grants/Fellowships/Affiliations:
2018 Reporting Fellow for the South Asian Journalists Association focusing on Rohingya refugee women and a recipient of a grant from the Solutions Journalism Network. I currently serve as a board member for the South Asian Journalists Association where I’ve hosted panels, helped develop media coverage guidance around 9/11 and more.
